The British Academy International Fellowships 2026

• Applicants must be early-career researchers • Hold a PhD or be in the final stages of PhD completion (PhD must be completed before 1 June 2026) • Maximum of 5 years of active postdoctoral research experience (career breaks excluded) • Must be based outside the UK at the time of application • Must not hold UK citizenship • Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English • Have a confirmed UK host researcher or mentor

• Two-year funded research fellowship in the UK • Research costs covered up to £12,000 • Relocation and mobility support up to £8,000 • Salary funded via host institution • Access to British Academy networking and professional development opportunities

• Research proposal • Curriculum Vitae (CV) • PhD certificate or confirmation of completion • Letter of support from UK host institution • Employment and publication history

Application Process Applicants must identify and secure agreement from a UK host researcher. Applications are submitted online through the British Academy’s Flexi-Grant system during the open call period.
