British Council Languages Teacher Training Scholarship 2026/27

• Open to applicants from all countries worldwide • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2:1 classification or equivalent, or a Master’s / Doctoral degree • Applicants with a lower degree classification may still be considered if they demonstrate strong language proficiency • Must secure a place on an eligible non-salaried Modern Foreign Languages teacher training programme in England • Must meet the English language requirements set by the teacher training provider • Must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in French, German, or Spanish • Applicants are responsible for securing admission to a teacher training course independently

• Total funding of £22,000 • Monthly stipend paid from October to July • Financial support for living expenses during the training year • Full participation in a recognised teacher training programme in England • Access to professional development resources and mentoring • Opportunity to begin a teaching career in the UK education system

• Completed application form • Academic transcripts and degree certificates • Proof of language proficiency (French, German, or Spanish) • English language proficiency evidence (if required) • Curriculum Vitae (CV) • Personal statement or motivation letter

1. Identify and apply for an eligible Modern Foreign Languages teacher training programme in England 2. Secure an offer or conditional offer from a training provider 3. Submit the scholarship application during the official application period 4. Provide all required academic and language documents 5. Await selection and final decision
